Carbon neutrality is a national priority and, under the new circumstances, a consensus gradually reached by major countries around the world today.
I. What is Carbon Neutrality?
What is carbon neutrality? According to the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C, carbon-neutral is defined as follows: when an organization balances its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions over a one-year period through the application of carbon dioxide removal technologies, it achieves carbon neutrality or net zero carbon dioxide emissions.
Therefore, carbon neutrality does not mean that our country will no longer emit carbon from now on, but rather that the carbon emitted can be fully absorbed, meaning that carbon emissions equal carbon removal. This process is carbon neutrality.
II. China's Carbon Neutrality Target
On September 22, 2020, China formally announced to the United Nations General Assembly that it would strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 and adopt "more forceful policies and measures" to peak emissions before 2030.
III. Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Will Reshape the Manufacturing Industry
Carbon peak and carbon neutrality will also restructure the entire manufacturing industry, and our country's entire industrial landscape will shift from a resource-based attribute to a manufacturing attribute. Take mobile phones, for example. To achieve carbon neutrality, the factory that assembles them must be carbon neutral, the links that supply components and raw materials must be carbon neutral, and the factories that provide chips must also be carbon neutral—every link in the entire industrial chain must achieve carbon neutrality. This will establish a new standard for the whole industrial chain.
IV. CJAC and Carbon Peak, Carbon Neutrality
First, factories should start from within and strive to reduce emissions. Through years of design improvements, CJAC has minimized the environmental impact of its production and manufacturing processes to an extremely low level, empowering the green, high-quality development of the economy and society.
Second, factories should start from their products to reduce carbon emissions. CJAC's hydraulic buffers, compared to ordinary buffers, are more environmentally friendly, compact in design, and occupy little space. From raw materials to production and transportation, strict controls are exercised, and the carbon neutrality of its own products is leveraged to promote the carbon neutrality of products throughout the entire industrial chain.
Technological emission reduction is an important lever for achieving the goal. Regardless of whether there is an expectation of carbon neutrality, this is an area CJAC has been actively advancing.
